The cargo ship KM Bunga Melati XV sank on March 22nd 2016. The ship was transporting 2,400 tones of cement from Kalimantan in Borneo to the Sagnier islands. The captain of the ship was misled by its maps, and crushed into the rocks close to Ruang Island. He managed to free the ship from the rocks, but a big hole in the front made it impossible to keep it afloat. At least the captain managed to bring the ship to the harbor of Tagulandang, where it sank in the evening. All of its cargo was lost, but there was no human casualty.

The Oil tanker, KM Sumber Mutiara, burned in the Port of Tagulandang on Saturday January the 4th 2014. The ship was carrying 700 liters of fuel (gasoline, diesel and kerosene). Two of the crew members perished in the event, the rest of the 14 members suffered burns and were brought to the hospital of Manado. Soon after the explosion, the ship sank next to the harbor. Since then it has been home to many fish, making of this site one of the favorite snorkeling spots in the island. When the works to remove the ship finish, nothing will remain.
